The BayPraia da Rocha bay offers the opportunity for safe swimming for all ages. The area around the bay and rock are a newly created marine reserve and for the more adventerous there is snorkling over the reef off the point, tides permitting. Both the bay and the south beach are excellent for body surfing. No jet skis are permitted in the bay and fishing boats may only be launched and beached at an authorised site away from swimmers.

Diving
Both Tofo and Barra have a number of excellent dive operators offering the opportunity to do multiple or single cylinder dives at some world renowned sites, including Manta Reef. Excellent dive operators include Tofo Scuba and Diversity Scuba
FishingThere are a number of operators offering half or full day game fishing in the exceptional fishing waters of the area. Launches are from either Tofo beach or Barra beach. Any number of species are caught including king mackerel, queen mackerel, giant king fish, dorado, wahoo, yellow fin tuna, bonito, amberjack, sail fish and even the occasional marlin.

Whale shark, humpback whale & dolphin Ocean SafarisTofo (and soon Praia da Rocha) offers the truly amazing opportunity to snorkle with whale sharks and dolphins, often in the Praia da Rocha bay. The large population of manta rays and whale sharks has given rise to the The Foundation for the Protection of Marine Megafauna (FPMM) a research station based at Casa Barry in Tofo where lectures are regularly given on the reef fauna and flora.The coast off Inhambane boasts the largest population of resident whale sharks in the world. Of the 1,000 whale sharks that have been individually identified worldwide, 300 are in Inhambane! From June through to late September (and occasionally into October) humpback whales fill the seas and can be seen all day breaching and courting throughout the area and during this time Ocean safaris include seeing these amazing creatures up close.
